NAAM Descendents Series

We recently partnered with the Northwest African American Museums for their Descendents Series program featuring W.E.B. DuBois' great-grandson, and they sent this lovely note. Thank you to the NAAM, and please check out the links to the program and other resources.

Greetings Sisters and Brothers of the NAACP,

Thank you! We at the Northwest African American Museums deeply appreciate you partnering with us to bring NAACP co-founder W.E.B. DuBois's great-grandson to our region virtually. Mr. McFarlane thoroughly enjoyed his time with us, including the afterglow. One of your colleagues, Jonathan Johnson, President of the Tacoma Branch, was in a photo with Mr. McFarlane, as attached. And great news that Kiantha Duncan, President of the Spokane Branch will moderate our October 17th Descendants Series conversation with Harriet Tubman's great-great-great grandniece. NAAM would love to be in an ongoing partnership with the NAACP with our Descendants Series. We provide educational reading lists for each program as a way to expand knowledge in our region about African American history.

Below, please find a link to yesterday's program, the W.E.B. DuBois reading list, and other details. Thank you Sheley Anderson (AK-OR-WA State Area Conference), Claude Burfect (Seattle King County), Tracy Flood (Bremerton), and Jonathan Johnson (Tacoma) for providing wonderful remarks during the program. Thank you Kiantha Duncan (Spokane) for moderating in such a remarkable way.

Thank you all, NAACP leaders, for your courageous spirit of servant leadership.

With heartfelt appreciation,

LaNesha DeBardelaben

President & CEO of the Northwest African American Museum (NAAM)
