Born September 18, 1940 in New York City. Graduated from Pleasantville High School in Pleasantville, New York in June 1958. Received BS Degree in Civil Engineering from Columbia University in June 1963. After commissioning at the time of graduation, served 2 years in the Navy from June 1963 to June 1965. After an engineering career of 42 years, retired from civilian employment at Submarine Base Bangor in March 2008.

I was active in the anti apartheid movement here in the USA between 1984 until the end of apartheid in South Africa in 1994. At that time, I got to meet and work together with some of the then-exiled members of the revolutionary African National Congress who were here in the USA, working to line up US support for the establishment of a legitimate, democratic government in South Africa. Also got to meet and work together with some of the members of the Southwest Africa People’s Organization of neighboring Namibia who were here in the USA for the same purpose. The revolution in South Africa and the revolution in Namibia were two parts of the same revolution.

Prior to being in the anti apartheid movement, I had a one year course in International Law and a one year course in International Relations at the Navy Reserve Officer School in Los Angeles, between 1972 and 1974.After being relocated to the Northwest due to the closure of the old Long Beach Naval Shipyard, I originated the annual Mission Outreach Day event at the Silverdale Lutheran Church, where I was a member until 2003. In 2003, I took the Mission Outreach Day event out of the Silverdale Lutheran Church and moved it into the NAACP and changed my church membership to the Ebenezer AME Church, where I am still a member. I have been a member of the NAACP since 2002. In my other community activities, I am a Sunday School teacher at Ebenezer, and also serving along with my wife Estela on the Board of Directors of the Filipino-American Association of Kitsap County, where she is serving as Treasurer.
